About Afsharid Iran

Founded by Nader Shah, a military genius who expelled Afghan and Ottoman invaders from Iran. In 1739 he sacked Delhi and carried off the Peacock Throne and the Koh-i-Noor diamond. His harsh rule ended with his assassination in 1747. His successors held only a reduced realm in Khorasan until the Qajars took over.
