About Akkadian Empire
Often called the first empire in history. Sargon of Akkad united the Sumerian city states under one ruler. Akkadian became the language of diplomacy and administration across the region for centuries. His grandson Naram-Sin called himself king of the four quarters. It collapsed amid invasions by the Gutians and possibly drought.
