About First French Empire
The empire of Napoleon I, proclaimed in 1804. His victories at Austerlitz, Jena, and Wagram made France master of much of Europe, with satellite kingdoms ruled by his relatives. The Napoleonic Code spread across the continent. The disastrous invasion of Russia in 1812 broke his power, and Waterloo ended it in 1815.
