About Kingdom of Ghana
Called the Land of Gold by Arab traders. The king was known as the Ghana, meaning warrior king. Gold-salt trade made it fabulously wealthy. Al-Bakri described the king wearing gold nuggets as dogs collars. Absorbed into the Mali Empire. Not the same as modern Ghana, which took the name in honor.
