About North Sea Empire
The personal union of England, Denmark, and Norway under Cnut the Great, son of the Danish king Sweyn Forkbeard. Cnut ruled England through powerful earls and won the support of the church. He traveled to Rome for the coronation of Emperor Conrad II. The empire broke apart soon after his death in 1035.
