About Tarascan State
A Purepecha state in western Mexico centered on Lake Patzcuaro and the capital Tzintzuntzan. It was the main rival of the Aztec Empire and defeated a large Aztec invasion around 1479. Its people were skilled in metallurgy, including copper and bronze. It submitted to Spanish rule after the fall of Tenochtitlan.
